Just got a 4 string bass (not really mine, but its in the house and the owner isn't going to use it most likely) and I'm looking for some good tabs to start with.

Thanks! :)

have you played any other instrument before? dunno what games or music styles you like, but here's a good list to go through: auriplane's bass tabs

assuming you're a total beginner i think it's best to play stuff with a basic right hand rhythm until your left hand gets comfortable finding notes without all your attention. BUT if anyone else tell you otherwise, listen to them, i'm no expert, more like an advanced beginner.
chrono trigger victory has a basic steady rhythm.
epoch, play the rests in the intro, otherwise same basic 1234
robo's theme helps practice a galloping rhythm

otherwise find something to suit you. look up info on bad playing habits to prevent them before you have to unlearn them, which is a long process since almost all of playing is muscle memory.

Yeah I was planning on asking auri about it if I had the chance. I've played guitar for 2 months? maybe? I dont know. Bad with time.

Anywho Im still pretty noob status all around. Only songs I can really play on guitar are archards noob friendly songs.

If you don't want advice, just links, ignore all the text :-) But I'm going to give advice too.

Here's a tab to practice right hand stuff. (Alternate index middle always!! At least until you know what you're doing, or unless you're only going to play with a pick, in which case you can ignore all this advice. But if you do fingers, index-middle is a much better habit than learning to play with one finger first.)

But anyway, try Ancient Library with index-middle. If you listen, you'll notice all the notes are really short (staccato). After one finger plucks, the other finger should move into position and touch the string to mute it, and to get ready to play the next note. (The thumb can sit on the pickup or a lower string than you're playing.)

Here's another one, Walking the Snow Mountains. Listen to this one--the notes are long, not short. So try this one with the same technique, but don't quite touch the string with your fingers, let the notes ring out! It's also a little faster, and it's got a different rhythm to it.

Here are some easier ones that have more interesting notes (to work on left-hand stuff):

If you need easier songs than this stuff, here's VERY easy:

Yay!

You should read about both left-hand and right-hand muting. Muting is very important on bass, as is rhythm, and deciding whether to play a note long or short :-)
