Congrats to the winners!

Cage's piece actually reminded me of Sigur Ros, too! Which, yeah. That's a compliment. :D

Auri, fantastic piece. The beginning made me think of the Icicle village in FF7, probably cause of the 3/4 time, and the first interval jump. (Dang, I've got FF7 on the mind.) But then I saw a skating rink, and then it sounded just like that "magic moment" in a romantic comedy--you know, they're on their first date, ice skating outside, and they accidentally trip over each other, help each other up, and...cue the music. :-)

Kabuki, yeah I did think it would be great to have a melody and more texture to mine. I'd love to get a few people together live to really turn it into something.

Thanks for the competition!

And then I realized that the chord progression from Chrono Cross's Another World is the same progression as the chorus from Peace of Mind by Boston, and life was never quite the same.

I think the TOP3 is logical,

Thanks a lot for your comments Kabukibear, it's really heartwarming especially when I remember how, indeed, it was hard to compose for a choir ^^ And I agree : the transition between the two parts was just... nonexistent lol

Congrats to everyone who sent a tune !! For sure I'll regularly hear again each tune :-)

Indeed, each tune was really great. Nonetheless, very special bravo to musenji, rat_in_a_cage and auriplane : your tunes were completely awesome !!! :D

I'm sorry for the audio quality which is rather bad.

Is this better? MP3

I used hamienet's midi to mp3 converter with SGM v2.01 soundfont.

And good job on the song by the way! Nice effects with the seashore instrument. I'm trying to use bottle blow imitate wind, but not really sure how or if it is possible.

Hey hslesperance, is it possible to make a recoding, recorded on audacity, sound better like that? Because I use Audacity to record my songs (I know I need to get something better) but in the backround you can hear static and it's really annoying. Thanks and hope you can help!

Basically a MIDI is just a music sheet, so it's not even an audio file. When your PC plays a MIDI file it reads the sheet and uses its software synthesizer to produce sounds. Depending on the synthesizer it might sound good but normal sound chips' ones usually suck.
So what does that Hamienet MID -> MP3 do? Exactly, it offers a set of above average MIDI synthesizers to play your MIDI and creates a MP3 from that for you to download.
Since your Audacity recording is an actual sound file (.wav I guess) Hamienet can't do anything for you.

TL;DR: No.

I don't know anything about recording music, but that hamienet converter is only for midi files.

Audacity won't cause static in the background. That's due to the hardware you're recording with.
