You are talking about gametabs arrangements right? I just assumed youd go with the most influentual ones floating around, i.e. the ones that promoted gametabs the most. for example: spira unplugged - stamen etc. etc.

Cant add songs not arranged by us in our albums. Kabuki should use his radical dreamers and other songs he arranged if he wants to make a cd but not a stamen arragement.

well, not necessarily fingerstyled or already existing arrangements. Actually I was thinking about graviting around a fixed idea (like salem's one, the ending themes) |

Actually it's stopped me from doing a number of things, out of respect for the copyright holders. The question I'd ask Jacob is, what's the difference between people posting youtube videos, vs. putting it on a CD? If you're okay with seeing everyone's performances on YouTube, you shouldn't have a problem with a CD of the same thing. Unless y'all were thinking of actually SELLING the CDs. That would be way worse of course.

BTW, that's not related to copyright. Those are your personal ethics; by copyright law, remember, for-profit and for-free are equivalently "wrong". And if copyright law didn't stop you from uploading covers to Youtube, as you say, it should not stop you from making an album, so why did it? (Answer: it didn't. Your ethics did, not copyright.)

I meant that copyright

I meant that copyright stopped me from doing other things--not related to performing music myself. I assumed your original comment was of broader scope than just making a cover album. So fair use includes use for profit? I thought that they drew a line between using material for education, etc. vs. using it in a money-making situation.

No, "s'never stopped anyone

No, "s'never stopped anyone [from making a VGM cover album]". Yes, there is a distinction re: fair use. What makes you think either case is fair use, though? Anyway, enough copyright off-topicness. Jacob, go sit in the corner for a week as penalty for trolling.

I'm guessing you don't want me to actually answer the question you asked, as you then immediately said "enough copyright off-topicness". Damn confusing, though--it didn't come off rhetorical. :-)

my next reason for not doing

my next reason for not doing this would be the other unfinished "official" gametabs project(/s?) |
2nd dimension of the sound

2nd dimension of the sound variety! I forgot you're a mod! You should go all Ministry of Truth on the thread: delete Jacob's original comment and any comments pertaining to it, and then erase the word "next" from his most recent post. ON TOPIC! I would try to stick to arrangements where having the music on guitar brings something new to the piece. A lot of the tabs here are "recreation" tabs. They are mostly fun in that they let people recreate the music themselves--but don't necessarily sound good to just listen to. Also, what other "official" projects are there currently back-burning?

BROS, SIS, HEAR ME!
So yeah, the idea has been brought up on irc, who would be up to do a Gametabs Album?
Something collaborative and of good quality that would show our motivation and passion for vg musics
We could focuse on only one serie or several ones. Some ideas:
Mario, Zelda, Castlevania, Megaman, Chrono, Golden Sun, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Mother, Seiken Densetsu, Pokemon, Sonic, Street Fighter, Touhou, ...
So, anyone interested?
