The Japanese aren't allowed

The Japanese aren't allowed to show their faces until they turn 18. It's to prevent stalkers or something like that. I agree that the masks are bizarre though. |

"You would be a better guitarist if you open your eyes wider." "Why do all asians look bored when they play the guitar?" There's more cruel comments than that... |

You can always google racial slur database. At least with the Bleach mask, all comments will be directed towards hating the anime instead of hating what race I am. |

This might be an odd topic, but over time, I've been noticing some informal trends
amoung fashion of bedroom guitarists on youtube, especially those of us who cover things from Japan. I thought it might be fun to list, explain
or comment on any trends you've noticed - Aside from the obvious i.e. the Asians habit
of peforming in masks.
1.) I've noticed that (usually female) guitarists are in the habit of pulling the sleeves
over their hands to cover as much of it as possible. I'm guessing its to make the
hands look smaller and cuter and emphasise finger length.
2.) Another one, which I also do, applies to us who peform while wearing headphones.
We often leave the cable of the headphone on the thumb side of the fretting arm. As a
result the wire moves around alot as we move our arm to play at different frets. To me
something about this just looks cool. It sometimes is a little distracting, but
if we're always going to substitute aesthetics for comfort, everyone will look mighty
boring sitting on their chairs with the guitar high up and not moving the body a cm.
3.) Now about the topic of not revealing the face, I don't know the reason that Japanese musicians hide their face, often with very strange masks, but I can speak for myself. I consider myself an average looking bloke, but the point is I don't really feel comfortable showing the entire world my face, it just bothers me.
Tell us about some trends noticed (Applies mainly to guitarists who peform Japanese stuff). Or maybr some of your own.
