Fantastic. Inventive and definitely groovy. (I cracked the nail on a string slap. :D)

My only beef is with the midi! It sounds better than the real thing can sound, because it holds notes that can't be held when you physically play the piece on a guitar.

I'm adjusting things for my hands as I go along.

Meanwhile, I want to hear you play line 7 at tempo. >:D

Line 7: Alternating

Line 7: Alternating thumb/index for the bass, ring for the melody?

EDIT: Ohh, thumb pick.

Measure 7 is definitely the

Measure 7 is definitely the hardest measure of the whole tab assuming it is performed the way I intended XD. It is deceptively difficult. I can only do it mostly-consistently at around 70% tempo. Of course, there are other ways the percussion can be done which would possibly work better.

Also, I agree that it is a bit hard to let certain notes ring out well. I would have loved if I could have made this work for a capo on 5 with vihuela tuning, as that would have alleviated this problem quite a bit.

EDIT: If you meant line 7 of the text file (aka measures 13 and 14) and not measure 7, those aren't too hard if you start off slow and work your way up.

Is it possible for me to do the upstrokes without a thumbpick? I can't get the notes to sound out unless I pick them normally.

Also best tab ever or best tab ever?

You could tap the strings

You could tap the strings with the side of your thumb instead of doing an upstroke.

Chelsea has a good solution.

Chelsea has a good solution. Also, you could use your thumbnail to do the upstroke. However, I personally find that sort of cumbersome and usually it isn't as clear aurally in my experience. Ultimately, if I didn't have a thumb pick, I'd just play the note like normal. It's doable, but less efficient, so it might be a bit harder to keep 100% tempo.

Why would it be less efficient without a thumb pick in this scenario? Lets find out!

  • With a thumb pick, the motion would be: Slap, upstroke, downstroke. This is effectively one motion after the slap and before the downstroke.
  • Without a thumb pick, the motion would be: Slap, downstroke, move thumb back up to original position, downstroke. This would be two motions after the slap and before the same downstroke as the previous example.

One motion in a 16th note interval is more efficient than two motions in a 16th note interval. This isn't an issue at slower/mid tempos, but as the tempo rises, a thumb pick can help to easily maintain a correct and steady pace (at least in situations where upstrokes are viable).

Anyways, I also updated the tab just now (which I've been meaning to do for a long time). The difference is a playability change in the 22nd measure and notation for tapping in the 18th measure. The tapping is how I play it, but I don't think it is actually necessary. Also, I included a "Suggested fingerings" folder that includes a gp5 and pdf file for anyone that might find that useful.

¡Guau..Genial!!

If I could have made this

If I could have made this work for a capo on KFC Near Me with vihuela tuning as that would have alleviated this problem quite a bit.
