It's a way of showing a special kind of note duration. For example if you have two 8th notes next to each other they make up one beat, each one getting half of the beat. The next higher note duration are 16th notes, each one getting a quarter of a beat, so there are 4 of those that make up one beat. But what if you want something in between those two? What if you want 3 notes instead of 2 or 4? What if you want 5 notes in one beat? or 6? That's where tuplets come in.

For example, if you were to count 8th notes out loud you would say "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and" which make 8 notes. If you were to count 8th note triplets (triplet meaning a grouping of 3 notes, you can also have quintuplets, sextuplets, etc.) you would count it "1-pul-let 2-pul-let 3-pul-let 4-pul-let," making sure that each part is equally spaced.

To sum it up it's a way of putting a group of notes in the space of one beat. You'll see it notated as a bracket over the specific notes with a number, telling you what kind of tuplet it is.

i've been playing a little under a year.. and i've been looking forward to the day when i could finally learn this song... it today was the day ahaha.. i learned i cheap version i while back to satisfy the appatite.. but now its gone ahaha.. and just wondering... how long would you other guitar players say it took you to be on this level... just curious... thnx for tabbin it!!!
