Sat, 01/05/2008 - 14:58Simply to let that low C ring out through the second measure (by verse, I assumed you meant measure). If that doesn't make sense, think of it this way. Each measure has 4 beats. The W in measures 1-2 stands for "whole" notes, which is a note that plays for all 4 beats. The note at the beginning plays for 8 beats, but the longest note possible is a whole note, which is only 4 beats. The "L" symbolizes a tied note, which basically means adding note values together. So if you take two whole notes and tie them together, you get 4 beats + 4 beats = 8 beats. So think "1, 2, 3, 4; 1, 2, 3, 4" where you play the note on the first "1" and hold it for all 8 beats, or 2 measures worth. Just a heads up, in some other tabs, a tied note would be shown in parentheses like this:
W W E||-------------------|-------------------| B||-------------------|-------------------| G||-------------------|-------------------| D||-------------------|-------------------| A||-------------------|-------------------| C||--0----------------|-(0)---------------|Sorry if that doesn't make sense, or if I bored you with stuff you already know...but I hope that helps :)
